Zoey Deutch was born in Los Angeles, California. She is the youngest daughter of actress Lea Thompson and director Howard Deutch. She attended Oakwood School, as well as The Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, where she majored in Theatre. Zoey has an older sister named Madeline.
She is perhaps best known for her portrayals of Juliet Martin in The CW series Ringer alonside Sarah Michelle Gellar and as Maya Bennett in the Disney Channel series The Suite Life on Deck, the latter being Zoey’s first major acting role. After being cast as Maya, Zoey made her first appearance in My Oh Maya, the fourth episode of the show’s final season.
Since her role in The Suite Life on Deck, Zoey has guest starred in NCIS and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. It was announced in July 2011 that she would play Juliet Martin in Ringer after the role was recast. Actress Caitlin Custer was originally cast to play the troubled teenage stepdaughter of Siobhan Martin.
Zoey also made her feature debut in Mayor Cupcake in 2011, playing the on-screen daughter of real-life mother Lea Thompson. Her sister Madeline Deutch was also cast. Mayor Cupcake was released to DVD in July.
Zoey’s next role will be as Willow Connor in the ABC drama Hallelujah. The network originally passed on the Pilot but have since begun redeveloping the show. Hallelujah is set to air in 2012. Arielle Kebbel, Terry O’Quinn and Robbie Amell have also been cast.
